The service

What is ClariMac?+

ClariMac is a certification service for used Macs. The seller runs a script that scans 47 hardware components, then pays $7.95 to get a permanent public link — verifiable by any buyer.

How much does it cost?+

One report costs $7.95 CAD (taxes included). The report is permanent — no subscription, no recurring fees.

Who can use ClariMac?+

Anyone selling a used Mac on Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or elsewhere. Also available for professional resellers via the API.

Seller

How do I certify my Mac?+

Open Terminal and paste: curl -fsSL https://clarimac.com/install | bash — The scan takes 2 minutes. No app to install.

Does the script access my personal files?+

No. The script only reads hardware data (battery, SSD, CPU, security). It never accesses your files, photos, passwords, or personal data. The source code is public on GitHub.

Does data leave my Mac before I pay?+

No. All data is collected locally. It is transmitted to the server only when you confirm you want to generate a report.

Can I certify a Mac I haven't sold yet?+

Yes. The report is valid for 12 months. You can generate it in advance and share it when you find a buyer.

Does the report include photos?+

Yes. After the scan, a wizard guides you to take 3 photos (screen, chassis, serial number) and answer 5 visual checks. These manual tests are included in the report.

Buyer

How do I verify a report I received?+

Enter the Mac serial number or report ID in the Verify section on clarimac.com — free, instant, no account required.

Can the report be forged?+

No. The report is cryptographically signed (SHA-256) and anchored on the Solana blockchain. Any modification breaks the signature — you can verify the anchor yourself via the Solana explorer.

What if the Mac has an Activation Lock?+

The report clearly shows it with a red warning. Ask the seller to disable Activation Lock before the sale — otherwise the Mac will be unusable for you.

Does ClariMac guarantee the Mac's condition?+

No. ClariMac certifies the hardware state at the time of the scan. It is not a warranty. Use the report as one element of your pre-purchase verification.

Security & data

Where is my data stored?+

Reports are stored on a private server in Canada, encrypted and accessible only via HTTPS. Only your email address (to receive the link) and hardware data are retained.

Can I delete my report?+

You can request deletion of your personal data (email) at hello@clarimac.com. The blockchain anchor is permanent by nature — that is a property of blockchain technology.

Is ClariMac compliant with Quebec's Law 25?+

Yes. We only collect data necessary for the service, it is not sold to third parties, and you can exercise your access and deletion rights by email.
